Counters #
1. Batch Counter #
The Batch Counter can be preset to shut the machine off and blow a whistle when the preset number of vaccinations have been completed. The preset number is easily set: Press reset button, the rectangular button on the left of the counter, and key-in the desired number sequence individually with the button below each digit.
2. Totalizing Counter #
The Totalizing Counter records the total vaccinations independently from the batch counter and is reset with the rectangular button to the left of the digits. It is extremely important to maintain clean, dry and oil free compressed air to operate the counters properly. A water resistant cover is installed over the front of the counter but every precaution should be taken to keep the counter as dry as possible because the cover does not waterproof the counter.
Compressed Air Supply #
Generally speaking, a 0.73 kw (1 HP) air compressor will produce approximately 0.08-0.11 l (3-4 cu. ft.) air per minute; a 3.65 kw (5 HP) air compressor will produce between 0.4-0.55 l (15 and 20 cu. ft.) air per minute. The BioJector IV, when run at the rate of 3,000 injections per hour, will use roughly 0.008-0,011 l (.3 to .4 cu. ft.) air per minute. Therefore, a 0.73 kw (1 HP) compressor could operate 6 or more machines. When using compressed air, it is important to have clean, dry air. The filter on the BioJector gives added insurance that the air reaching the components of the BioJector is clean and dry, but it is too small to handle air of poor quality. Therefore, the following recommendations must be followed.
Recommended Good Air Practices #
- Use a top quality compressor in good repair.
- Install a coalescing filter at compressor.
- Install an air drier.
- Regardless of whether filters are automatic or manual, they should be checked and drained daily.
- It is suggested that the pet cock on the machine filter should be opened each morning momentarily and again on completion of vaccinations while the machine is still connected to the air line.
