  • Sterilizing the Syringe

Sterilizing the Syringe

  1. Wrap syringe in aluminum foil, rolling (folding) the edges together to provide a good seal.
  2. Fold one end in the same manner. Fold the other end under gently one time to allow the pressure to equalize inside the syringe package during sterilization.
  3. Place syringe packages in an autoclave or pressure cooker. Provide a wire rack of some sort so that syringe packages do not rest directly in water.
  4. Sterilize at 6.8 kg (15 lbs.) pressure for 20 minutes.
  5. When sterilized syringe packages are removed from the sterilizer after depressurizing and cooling, put another fold in the loosely folded end if syringes are to be stored prior to use.
  6. It is very important that the Plunger (the blue O-Ring) is sprinkled with oil before each use (after each cleaning and disinfecting).Without oil, significant problems can arise!

Attention: Make sure that devices are always cleaned and disinfected carefully after AND before each usage. Do not bring contaminated devices inside your hatchery. Make biosecurity to one of the main focus in your daily routines.
